Phil Waterhouse highlights how to analyse, evaluate and apply examples effectively

Back to the Future Day took place on 21 October 2015. Perhaps the most ambitious of the three films was the second one, which was produced in 1989 and tried to predict what 2015 would be like. While the film managed to predict some things rather well — such as the use of locational devices to monitor weather and the use of wearable technology — it failed to predict the use of smartphones and tablet devices and the emergence of e-commerce as such a major factor in the daily lives of consumers.

With this in mind, it is perhaps interesting that the BUSS4 paper should feature e-commerce as the theme for the pre-release material. It is a fascinating topic and one that should enable you to bring in relevant and interesting examples that will help to build and develop convincing lines of argument. However, it is perhaps worth reminding yourself of some of the major areas that have resulted in students not fulfilling their potential in such a crucial exam.
