A leader is a person who positively influences and inspires others to get things done. An effective leader is someone who fosters motivation, respect, trust and loyalty from the workforce. Leadership is the process of influencing and inspiring others to achieve organisational goals. Leaders tend to focus on achieving organisational visions, with no definite time frame in mind.

Management is essentially about problem solving and decision making. Managers are involved in complex tasks including planning, organising, budgeting and controlling. Management theorist Mary Parker Follett (1868–1933) defined management as:
