Welcome to Edexcel business A-level

So, you’ve chosen to take business A-level and your school has opted for the Edexcel specification. Ian Marcousé, author and former chief examiner, explains what to expect and how to maximise your chances of success

Can Costa open 550 coffee shops in China by 2020?

Edexcel business consists of four themes. These are designed to build up your knowledge of business and business decision making — eventually forming a clear idea of how to start, how to manage and how to create growth in companies both in the UK and globally. Later, when you are applying for management trainee jobs, you will be able to answer interview questions in a businesslike, mature manner. This isn’t just an A-level, it’s also a stepping stone.

The four themes set out in Figure 1 show the structure and content of the course.
