The image of our high streets and town centres has become one of boarded-up shops and publicised failures of well-known chains. In the 1980s, out-of-town shopping centres began shifting the balance of retail away from the traditional high street. But is it all doom and gloom or is there a chance that UK high streets can be regenerated?
