The Plus Pool is a remarkable innovation that will radically change the landscape of New York City. A team of young engineers from the design studio Play Lab have designed a swimming pool that will sit in the middle of the city’s polluted East River.
The project has gained a lot of support from the Kickstarter website, where entrepreneurs can pitch their ideas to attract sources of finance from potential investors. To date Plus Pool has raised over $300,000 from more than 3,500 investors and has gained a lot of positive media attention. This is not just because of the design itself (a series of swimming pools that interconnect to make a plus shape) but also the way that polluted water from the river is filtered for use in the pool.
