Now that the pre-release for the June 2014 exam has been made available, it is a good idea to look at some of the pitfalls and traps in the last exam.

The mark schemes encourage examiners to stand back and reflect on the quality of the response and make a judgement about whether it is ‘Good’, ‘Reasonable’ or ‘Limited’. In the past, examiners looked at answers and asked just how impressive they were considering that students had 4 months to prepare and research their own examples and apply them to the question set. Disappointingly, despite the lengthy lead time, scripts were still presented that showed little evidence of research.
