When I was 14 years old my parents took me to an exhibition of Gianni Versace’s work at the V&A Museum. It was the most inspiring and exciting collection of clothes I had ever seen. I had always had an interest in fashion and loved designing and making clothes, bags and accessories. But from that day I decided fashion was going to be my choice of career. I sat down with my parents and discussed the theory of how I would ultimately become a designer, starting with my education.
After achieving 10 A*–C grades at GCSE, I went on to do my A-levels. I achieved a double award in business studies and was selected as the highest-achieving student by my teachers. By then I had done extensive research into the best universities for fashion design, including summer school at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, but set my heart on attending the London College of Fashion (LCF). In preparation for the course I chose to attend the University of Gloucestershire for a year to obtain an art foundation diploma.
