Steve Jobs (1955–2011)

Tribute at the Apple Store, Covent Garden

Following his death in October 2011, aged just 56, Steve Jobs was acknowledged by political and business leaders as an iconic entrepreneur who helped to transform the daily habits of millions of people across the globe. He will be remembered as a visionary who reinvented computing, music and mobile phones during what he called the ‘post-PC era’.

Steve Jobs was not born into a rich family. His biological parents (Joanne Carole Schieble and Abdulfattah Jandali, a Syrian immigrant) were unmarried undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin, USA. Born in San Francisco, Steve Jobs was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs, a workingclass couple from Armenia.
