Getting an A grade at AS

Charlotte Mudway achieved an A grade in AS business studies. How did she do it?

Selecting the subjects I was going to take at AS was something I found quite difficult because of the variety of subjects available. However, I have always enjoyed business studies, found it interesting and been successful at it. I believed this was a good enough reason for me to take it at AS and I can honestly say that I am very glad I did. The other AS subjects I studied were ICT, English literature and mathematics.

At the beginning of the academic year, I felt I had a slight advantage over some of the other students because I had studied business studies at GCSE. I found that much of the terminology taught at the beginning of the year were things I had previously covered, although to a lesser degree. However, even with this background of business studies, it goes without saying that the step up from GCSE to AS was quite a big one. But it was not as difficult as compared with some other subjects, for example, maths and English, which I found much harder. Doing business was really beneficial, because I genuinely enjoyed it and found it interesting, so it was a nice break for me.
