Ihave just finished marking the summer unit tests. The grades have been awarded, the reports have been written. It is now the quiet period before the whole examination process starts again for next year. It is the time when I stop and ask myself this question: ‘If I could give A-level candidates a single piece of advice to take into next year’s examinations, what would it be?’ I have little doubt this time. It would be: ‘Do as you are told.’
