I would like to say that my career was well planned but it wasn’t. I was offered a place to study biochemistry at the University of Manchester. I didn’t know what biochemistry was but I enjoyed biology and chemistry at school so I thought I might like the two combined — and I did.
Originally from a small town in Somerset, I was the first member of my family to attend university. I experienced life in a culturally diverse and exciting city and I met Barry, my husband of nearly 30 years.
