Students studying AQA Unit 03 must be able to evaluate the current law on non-fatal offences (assault, battery and sections 47, 20 and 18 of the OAPA 1861). Reference must be made to both structural issues as well as to specific criticisms of offences. In addition, students need to refer to proposals for reform and make appropriate comment on these. Those studying the OCR specification are also expected to have both a critical awareness of the law and knowledge of proposals for reform.
