The two main remedies in tort law and contract law are an award of damages (called ‘damages’ for short) and an injunction. This article is about damages in tort, and in particular damages in an action for the tort of negligence where the claimant has suffered personal injury, e.g. a broken arm. See Examination focus on p. 10 for an example of how these rules can work in practice.

This article is relevant to AQA AS Unit 2 (Introduction to Tort) and AQA A2 Unit 4: Law of Tort.
