EXAMINATION FOCUS

Revision techniques for A-level law

Liz Nuttall provides some revision tips ahead of your exams

Let’s be honest, nobody looks forward to revising. When you are at the beginning of the revision process, particularly before your final exams at the end of your 2 years of A-level study, it seems like a huge mountain that needs climbing. There are, however, various strategies and techniques you can use to make your revision more effective, making that climb to the top a lot less daunting. In this ‘Examination focus’, I will outline three key revision techniques to use for your exams.

When revising, you may be looking at a variety of resources, all with varying content. For example, you may have a textbook, a revision guide and notes from your teachers. Each may contain different information, such as case studies, and all vary in depth. Before you begin revising, review the available information on each topic and decide what you are going to revise and create your own set of ‘master notes’. These are notes on a topic that outline the information that you are going to learn. These notes then become your main revision resource.
