EXAMINATION FOCUS

Mapping out contract terms

The terms topic in contract law is essential to the subject, so much so that it merits particular care and attention during exam preparation

This ‘Examination focus’ is relevant to AQA A-level Paper 3 (law of contract) and OCR A-level Component 3 (law of contract).

If you are starting a course in contract law, the formation topics will provide inspiration for the problem-solving required in this fascinating area of law. However, if my students over the years are representative of others around the country, they tend to peak too early with formation, and have little energy or appetite for terms. This column attempts to address that problem by setting out why you should care as much about terms as formation, and indeed derive as much enjoyment from this important topic.
