Royal assent

The royal assent is the last stage of the parliamentary law-making process and transforms a bill into an Act of Parliament. It is the ritual within the British constitution by which primary legislation is enacted. Prior to the royal assent, a bill must have successfully navigated five stages in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords:
