The Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services (Level 4) started in 2013 and offers an alternative and attractive route into the legal profession. Law firms that offer these apprenticeships are actively seeking candidates who have studied A-level law.

For the first time, A-level law students can follow an apprenticeship pathway to become a qualified fee-earner or ‘paralegal’ within the legal sector. From there, progression to qualified lawyer status (solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive) or even the judiciary is possible.
