From A-level law to New York lawyer

Andrew Jones recounts his journey from studying A-level law to becoming a partner in a New York law firm and gives some tips for your own career

Looking back, I seem to have come a long way from where I started, and hopefully my story will help others trying to make their way in an increasingly competitive global legal market.

I went to an unglamorous, but thoroughly decent, comprehensive school before taking A-levels in law, English language, geography and general studies at Havering Sixth Form College. Like many A-level students, I was studying law for the first time and found this new subject matter both interesting and challenging.
